As you may have noticed, last week there was no blog. Everything was still going on and I was still training, but it was a pretty uneventful week. I hit my calorie targets and did my workouts without anything of note to write about.
This last week was much the same. My food intake increased, now with a target of 2250 cals, which I’ve met successfully, my training sessions have all gone well, with my strength increasing. The only thing holding me back at the moment is a slight niggle on the outer side of the left knee. Conscious of just how bad knee injuries can be, I skipped my 6k run, which is a shame as the previous run, I’d just found the idea of pacing, rather than running like hell, relying on sheer will to get PB’s. But, I’m not prepared to take any risks with my knees!
Whilst trying to think of an exciting blog subject to write about (unsuccessfully), I kept coming back to the fact that it’s not always exciting. Sometimes it’s just boring and more of the same, hence why this post is titled ‘The Boring Bit In The Middle’.
However, these are the times when things could start to slip; I’m comfortable in my routine, it’s going well (aside from the slight injury) and it would be very easy to become complacent, but these are the moments where I need to push harder. Gains aren’t going to be as obvious in the pictures perhaps, but with all the work being put in, it’s still doing what it needs to do and as the old saying goes; ‘it’s a marathon, not a sprint’.
My motivation has to be driven by the longer term goal to ensure I keep putting in the effort required at all times.
I had my weekly checkin today and Tom is still pleased with the progress being made. I need to get my daily steps up, which have been disrupted slightly through the summer holidays, but having just been out for a walk in the rain, I have every intention of getting them back to where they need to be.
So, rather than waffle on, I’ll get to the progress pics for this week. I’m pleased with how things are shaping up. I’m definitely still bulking up and I’ve noticed changes in my legs and back this week. I can’t wait to get the excess off my waist, but I know that’s not this phase of the game.

If you have any questions about any part of my process, please feel free to reach out.
Have a great week.
